laptop update

So last night i packed up my laptop and sent it off to get repaired and had becca mail it off today. i have to admit that a couple of times i have had to stop and take some deep breaths. Mostly because the timing is way bad, i have all these midterms and projects that require software that is on my laptop and now i have to try and scrounge it all together and do what i can with it. i'm hoping that i will get it back by the end of this next week or prefferably the middle. So thats it for now but hopefully i'll be whole again and i'll start posting more often again.

No ticket , No Ride

So give me some feed back on this one guys about what you would have done.

I ride the train up to the school everyday and have a pass to ride. Well when I got to the station and got my stuff together I found out that I didn’t have my pass and only had enough money for a one way ride. Now the police only occasionally enforce the ridership fee by getting on the train and asking to see tickets. So I decide to take the chance and take a free ride up to the school and pay for the way back. So i get on the train and sit next to the door facing the window so I can see if any cops are getting on so I can get off like it was my stop the whole time.

Things are going good and Becca calls me and I tell her what I am doing and we talk for a bit and I completely forget to check for the police for two stops. Luckily I remember to start looking again. At the second to last stop I start watching and there are no cops on the waiting pad and the doors all shut. Then suddenly the door across and down from me opens and a cop gets on while I’m talking to Becca. then it starts beeping, which means in 3 seconds it will close. Now remember all the other doors have shut, so any one getting off has most likely already done it.

I casually stand up and go straight to the door across from me like I planed, but it is so late that I don't know if I can pull it off that this is my stop and that I’m not just running from him, like I am. Out of the corner of my eye I see him start walking towards me, so I try to make it seem like this is my stop by saying to Becca rather abruptly if you ask her, “So you want me to meet you at the Taco Bell across the street”? She of course is like uhhhh… sure. But it works and the cop stops coming at me and I walk onto the waiting ramp no problems. Then I just walk to the next stop wait 10 min and catch the next train.

Now Becca said if it was her she would have just stayed on the train and taken the ticket and maybe if she had gone to the court or whatever she could show she had a pass the whole time and maybe they would have gotten rid of the ticket. I think I did the better thing. What would you guys have done?

So the laptop is still down, but i just wanted everyone to know i am still alive and doing good in school, i got my first test back and it was an A, so yay me!

A loss in the family

No, no one died. But to see the reactions I get when I tell people what happened, you would think someone did.

Recently I have experienced something that no one on a paperless college campus should have to go through. Tuesday while opening up my laptop, which is like a part of me at this point, the left hinge support snapped and now no longer sufficiently supports the screen. I am now no longer able to use it at school and must mail it in to get fixed before my 3yr warranty runs out on 6/27/08.

So other than the sad looks and sympathies I get from the people I tell this means that my blogging is going to become a bit more crazy since I don’t have access to a computer lab on campus that isn’t one I’m taking a class in. I think the biggest things I am worried about are one, if I can survive without it for a couple weeks and two if it will leave and get back to me in one working piece with all its data. So wish me luck and I will write when I can.
